Pelatihan Public Speaking Dasar Pada Pelajar SD Muhammadiyah 12

Abstrak: Kemampuan berbicara di depan umum (public speaking) merupakan kompetensi krusial abad ke-21 yang belum terakomodasi dengan baik dalam kurikulum formal sekolah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan keterampilan dasar public speaking siswa di SD Muhammadiyah 12 Pamulang yang teridentifikasi memiliki kendala dalam keberanian tampil dan penyusunan struktur bicara. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pelatihan berbasis experiential learning yang mencakup teknik vokal, bahasa tubuh, dan struktur pidato, serta diakhiri dengan praktik langsung (mini showcase). Mitra kegiatan adalah sejumlah 31 siswa sekolah yang dibagi menjadi 10 kelompok praktik. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pengamatan performa saat showcase. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada keberanian siswa, di mana seluruh kelompok mampu tampil di depan kelas. Manfaat yang dirasakan meliputi peningkatan rasa percaya diri (self-confidence), kerjasama tim yang solid, dan kemampuan menyusun ide sederhana menjadi cerita yang runut. Antusiasme siswa sangat tinggi baik sebagai pembicara maupun audiens.

Abstract: Public speaking skills are crucial 21st-century competencies that have not been well-accommodated in the formal school curriculum. This community service activity aims to increase self-confidence and basic public speaking skills of students at SD Muhammadiyah 12 Pamulang, who were identified as having constraints in the courage to appear and speech structure arrangement. The implementation method includes experiential learning-based training covering vocal techniques, body language, and speech structure, ending with direct practice (mini showcase). The activity partners were as much as 31 students divided into 10 practice groups. Evaluation was carried out through performance observation during the showcase. The results showed a significant increase in student courage, where all groups were able to perform in front of the class. The benefits felt included increased self-confidence, solid teamwork, and the ability to compile simple ideas into coherent stories. Student enthusiasm was very high both as speakers and audiences.
