Abstract

The development of digital media has given rise to a variety of audiovisual content, including feature shows and documentaries, which are often considered similar because they both present reality and information. Theoretically, both have different characteristics in terms of purpose, narrative structure, and communication orientation. This study aims to analyze the differences between the two formats using a qualitative literature study method. The results show that feature shows contain light, communicative, and entertaining information with a flexible structure. In contrast, documentaries are oriented towards in-depth representation of reality, exploration of social issues, and reflective and investigative plots. In the digital era, both have adapted while maintaining their respective identities. This study contributes to a conceptual understanding of broadcast content production.
